Mechanic- Repair & Manufacturing

Full-time - Salina, KS 67401

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Shipping Project Mgr. Incumbent provides skilled mechanical, maintenance and repair services to rebuild large engines and industrial equipment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Accepts responsibility for safety of self and others on team.
  • Uses and reads micrometers, dial indicators, depth gauges, standard mechanical knowledge, etc. Properly uses & maintains hand tools, and basic technical equipment.
  • Follows all DOT regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with customers & co-workers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to comprehend & pass various safety training modules.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
